Ground beef vs. Chicken
Okay so here's the deal:
I love love love chicken however eating it twice a day 7 days a week sometimes get's quite boring. So I'm wondering if I sometimes can subsitute it with lean ground beef (3-5% fat)? Would it be just as good for me or am I better off sticking with the chicken.

lean beef is great, just adjust macro totals accordingly as the caloric differences per weight vary significantly.
eg: 4 oz boneless skinless chicken breast=120 cals
4 0z 96/4 GB=150 cals

Beef is good stuff . . .
Including some lean ground beef in ur diet would be a good move toward diversifying ur protein sources & opens up a lot more menu options than u would have w/ just chicken.
Just account 4 it in ur macros like premed_lifter said.

To much red meat can be bad for you. I dont think hardly any protein source can beat a chicken breast, compared to being the healthiest that you can eat everyday without doctors saying it will kill you. :s
I wouldnt repalce it, add some spices to your chicken, A1 sauce, BBQ sauce, hot sauce. Theirs many ways you can make chicken not boring. just take 5 extra minutes and throw something in with it.

I wouldn't read frankdaddy's post.
Especially for bodybuilders, red meat is great. If it's lean and fits in your macros go for it

Suffer. Be made strong.
I LOVE adding a little lean ground beef to my diet once in awhile! Sometimes a good ol' lean burger is just what I need when my diet starts to get boring. I've never noticed any negative health effects from eating red med (not that I eat a ton of it). Actually, adding in red meat helped me to lean down a little bit more by diversifying my diet I'm at a point now where I do not look forward to eating chicken. Lately, I've been eating more lean red meats and lots of seafood! All very good protein sources.

To much red meat for ANYONE can be bad..being a "bodybuilder" doesnt change what can hurt you or not
Eating large amounts of red or processed meat over a long period of time can indeed raise colorectal cancer risk

Thanks for your replies! I think I'll add some once in a while. I think in the long run diversifying my diet will make it easier for me to keep it on track.
Right now I mostly get my protein from tuna, chicken, egg whites and protein powder. And I love seafood so I often have salmon or another kind of fish for dinner once a week.

Steak, eggs, and milk
I eat chicken and beef each once a day...I go through two whole chickens from HEB and about 3-4 pounds of beef each week.

I could prolly find some scholar who wrote something about it, but its really pointless, since no need for us to argue over something dumb, cause both stated good points. So sorry for the language bro lol
PS....the aliens caused everything. I could find pics to prove for ya haha joking

too much of anything is never good, i think it would be wise to get a even amount of different protein sources.

Yea I eat the same thing everyday pretty much as in protein goes. 2 or 3, 6 oz chicken breasts, 4-5oz steak, 6oz porkchops, 9-10 eggs, and 8oz lean ground beef. Maybe a protein shake, but I rely more on my poultry and meat products for more reliable protein.

The foxnews opinion piece was very interesting however. A lot of that goes on in the research world. Investigator bias is difficult to eliminate, even in some seemingly well designed and controlled studies. Those numbers do seem massaged a bit, but again this correlation (I repeat, correlation) has been seen in various epidemiological studies.
I am FAR from anti-meat. I love beef and would eat it every day if I could afford it. The apparent risk from eating red meat is not that dramatic, much less risky than say, driving a car, which I do everyday. I don't get too hung up all the scare reports out there, I was just making a point to the previous poster who suggested that the ACS was some kind of quack group.
That is all.

Mr. Oats
Diversifying your diet will reap long term benefits. Even the most dedicated cannot maintain a strict chicken breast diet forever. Besides, ground beef is protein (even if you get 85/15 or 90/10). The extra fat won't kill you.

Inuendo? In HER end Oh!
I don't look forward to chicken either, but if you don't like it...you are definately making it wrong.
Learn about brining your chicken breast. Trust me, it will change the way you view chicken.
To the OP.
Go for it. Red meat is great, and should be eaten twice a week at least...maybe even everyday. I mean...if you have 6 meals to fill like I do...I can see myself eating some form of beef just about everyday and still getting plenty of variety.
